Comms Group is offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced telecoms engineer with five or more years' experience of installing, supporting and maintaining Avaya IP Office. You will join their in house IT/Telecoms Support and Installation Team, providing clients with support and installation services to industry best practices. This position is available immediately and the successful applicant will be based at Comms Group's office in Northampton.

Administrative tasks, troubleshooting, telephone based training, remote equipment configuration and support will be carried out from the office however you will be required to travel throughout the United Kingdom to survey, install, train and where necessary troubleshoot and repair equipment. In some cases over-night stays will be necessary. You will be expected to work closely with customers, other engineers and project managers. You must be accustomed to working with Avaya IP Office 400 and 500 systems and software and be experienced in connecting systems with analogue, ISDN and SIP trunks and using Voice Networking. Ability to work with voice cabling and install Cat5 structured cabling and a good knowledge of general telecoms peripherals (fax machines, PDQ machines, alarm systems, SIP ATAs, bells and tannoy systems) is also vital. Out of hours and occasional weekend work will be required and ability to multitask is essential as you will need to work on several jobs and projects concurrently.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

Essential skills:

  • 5 years' experience installing and supporting Avaya IP Office 400 and 500 systems
  • Avaya implementation qualifications
  • Ability to implement and support one-X Portal, Voicemail Pro, Contact Store, CCR
  • Excellent knowledge of IP Networking, VoIP, switches, routers and Internet technology
  • Experience working with implementing Cisco and Draytek routers
  • A strong working knowledge of SIP trunks and SIP service providers
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics ability
  • Familiarity with techniques for remote support including: TeamViewer, VNC, Remote Desktop and VPN working
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • A clean UK driving license
  • Willingness to work flexibly including out-of-hours and weekends and over-night stays around the country
  • Desire to learn and improve through self-learning and attending manufacturer led training courses
  • Clear communications ability and strong inter-personal skills in order to demonstrate verbally, via documentation and diagrams
  • Ability to organise and dynamically prioritise a busy workload

Desirable & Advantageous Skills:

  • Familiarity with Gamma SIP trunks and Horizon hosted VoIP service
  • Knowledge of IP Office Server Edition
  • Knowledge of Xima Chronicall, Oak ReportX
  • General interest in IT and PC support

Duration: Full Time

Hours: Monday - Friday 09:00am to 6:00pm (flexible)

Salary: £TBC (dependent upon experience and expertise)
