Avaya IP Office is an intelligent communications solution specially designed to meet the communications challenges facing small businesses. Intelligent Communications for small businesses addresses basic telephony needs, leverages built-in convergence capabilities, and capitalizes on the robust unified applications to deliver intelligence to users and customers. The IP Office phone system provides solutions that simplify processes, streamline information exchange within systems to create simple and prosperous experiences for all.

Avaya IP Office is a highly modular IP telephone system designed to specifically meet the needs of home offices, standalone businesses, and networked branch and head offices for small and midsize businesses. Built on Avaya latest advancements in converged voice and data technology, small to midsize businesses can benefit from many of the advantages sophisticated communications deliver to their operations. The IP Office phone system supports a wide range of telephones and line types, but the Avaya 5400 Series Digital phones and 5600 Series IP phones have been specifically designed to work with IP Office and provide small and midsize businesses with a choice of solutions to meet business efficiency and customer service requirements.

Product Details

The IP Office platform comprises 4 models: IP Office - Small Office Edition, IP406, IP412, and IP Office 500 system. The IP406, IP412, and IP Office 500 systems can have expansion modules added to them to match the requirements of a growing business. The lastest version being IP Office Release 6.

Avaya IP Office delivers full voice functionality with a comprehensive set of features. The system can be configured as a voice-only PBX using traditional circuit-switched lines or as an IP telephony server using high-speed ISDN/PRI dial-up access and/or direct leased line connectivity and/or SIP trunks.

The IP Office

Small Office Edition supports a maximum of 28 telephones; the IP406 supports a maximum of 190 telephones; the IP412 supports a maximum of 360 telephones; the IP Office 500 system supports 270 telephones.

IP Office 500 V2

The IP500 V2 is a new control unit which is an evolution of the existing IP500 and is fully backwards compatible with it. It has 4 card slots into which all existing IP500 cards can be inserted, as well as several new cards which are introduced with Release 6. The IP500 V2 requires the presence of a system SD (Secure Digital) card to operate and to act as its feature key. For more information see the chapter IP Office Platform. The IP500 V2 operates in standard IP Office mode as well as a new Avaya IP Office Essential Edition PARTNER Version.

This Avaya IP Office 500 V2 model works with Release 6 software and adds support for the following new telephone families:
• 1400 Series Digital Phones: 1403, 1408, 1416 (plus the DBM32 button module planned to follow during the first half of 2010)
• 1600 International Series IP Phones: 1603-I, 1603SW-I, 1608-I, 1616-I plus BM32 button module
• 9600 Series IP Phones: 9620L, 9620C, 9630, 9630G, 9640, 9640G, 9650, 9650C plus SBM24 button module
• ETR PARTNER Phones: 6D, 18D, 34D (Essential Edition – PARTNER Version only in North America)

Release 6 builds on the new application licensing framework introduced in Release 5 by allowing all the functionality of a system edition or user profile to be enabled with a single license key rather than multiple licenses.

Upgrade License

If upgrading to Release 6 from a previous release an Upgrade License must be present. This comes in three variants:
• standard upgrade to 6.0.
• upgrade to 6.0 for small sites up to 32 users.
• multiple upgrades for several future releases (up to and including Release 10).

IP Office 500

Included with IP Office R4.0 Standard Edition, the IP Office 500 system supports up to 32 telephones, with capacity for 16 analog trunks or 8 digital trunks (192 T1/PRI or 240 E1). Optionally, SIP trunks are also supported. With Professional Edition software, the IP Office 500 system supports 8 expansion modules providing for a combination of 270 analog, digital, and IP extensions. Additional analog trunks can be provisioned using the IP400 Analog Trunk 16 module. The Avaya IP Office system includes a robust set of tools for administration (Manager), call tracking (SMDR), system monitoring and diagnostics (System Status Application), to name a few. Additionally, the ability for users to manage their own calls is supplied through a simple GUI (Phone Manager). Phone Manager functionality can also be enhanced through simple licensing and to support IP softphones.

Additional applications, such as synchronizing voice mail messages in Microsoft Exchange e-mail InBox for easy message management; scheduling conferences, uploading documents for real-time viewing, and managing audio privileges for conference calls; and agent reporting and PC wallboards for call center environments can be added when needed. The Auto Attendant application enables callers to route their own calls to the relevant department/person without the need to speak to an operator/receptionist. Receptionists/operators can take advantage of the SoftConsole GUI application to present a professional view of the business to all callers. TAPI (Telephone Applications Programming Interface) support enables IP Office to be linked to Microsoft Outlook and other popular desktop applications for screen pops and PC-based telephony management.

Investment protection is offered through handsets supported by several Avaya platforms, and provides a migration path that is forward and backwards compatible. IP Office supports IP and digital telephone operation, with large display desktop phones with sophisticated screen-driven feature access. Single button on/off control and menu driven displays are available for selected features for ease of use.

IP Office - Small Office Edition

The IP Office - Small Office Edition is a compact platform specifically designed to meet the needs of very small businesses and home offices. In a single unit, it can provide a PABX with Auto Attendant and Voicemail, Broadband Access, Wireless Access Point (WiFi) and VPN tunneling. Voice Compression is included as standard to support IP Extensions or provide IP Trunks back to a head office. Based upon architecture of the Small Office Edition, the unit supports 4 analog telephones, 8 digital telephones, and up to 16 IP telephones. Optionally, the unit also supports a T1/PRI and SIP trunks. There are two units to choose from:

4 Analog trunks, 4 analog extensions, 8 digital stations and 3 VoIP resources 4 Analog trunks, 4 analog extensions, 8 digital stations and 16 VoIP resources

IP406

Supports 6 Expansion Modules providing a combination of up to 190 analog and digital telephones (of the 190, up to 180 telephones can be IP), with capacity for 8 analog trunks or 3 digital trunks (72 T1/PRI channels and 90 E1 channels). Additional analog trunks can be provisioned using the IP400 Analog Trunk 16 module. Additionally, SIP trunks are supported. Features include an 8 port Layer 2 switch and an optional 30 channel voice compression module.

IP412 Office

Supports 12 Expansion Modules providing a combination of up to 360 analog, digital, and IP telephones, with capacity for 8 analog trunks or 4 digital trunks (96 T1/PRI channels or 120 E1 channels). Optionally, SIP trunks are also supported. Additional analog trunks can be provisioned using the IP400 Analog Trunk 16 module. Features include 2 independently switched LAN ports and optional support for up to 60 voice compression channels.
